As a fashion blog created by three women who are as obsessed with music as they are with fashion (perhaps more so!), The Pack’s taste in clothes is inextricably linked with its taste in music, especially hip hop, house, and techno. You needn’t look very far within the fashion world to find the same—Kanye West and Ricardo Tisci, HBA’s close relationship with GHETTOGOTHIK DJ extraordinaire Venus X, Jeremy Scott’s friendship with K-Pop group 2NE1’s lead singer CL, Rihanna plus every cool designer ever, and of course we all died a little when Karl Lagerfeld chose Azari & III to soundtrack Chanel’s now-infamous grocery store aisle AW 2015 runway show.

So it’s with this in mind that we send you some much-overdue vibes. Today’s mix was made by our very own aerielist who moonlights as a DJ when she’s not busy taking over the fashion world. This hour long house mix was inspired by, what else, summer and would probably sound great soundtracking a fashion show. Peep the mix here and meet us at our next rave here.

The Baddest Female

We admit it. We’ve been sippin’ on the kimchi brine pretty hard as of late, and I am quite possibly the worst offender. You can’t really blame us though. Sure, exciting things in fashion are not restricted to just this one tiny peninsula, but for the past few years my ladies from the Land of the Morning Calm have really emerged as a new and exciting influence on the global style scene, creating garments that appeal to young women who want to wear more than just another pretty dress. It also doesn’t hurt my obsession that, because I’ve lived there, I can’t help but feel a personal connection to the country’s growing pack of young designers.

Moschino by Nicki

The Pack loves having our smart and opinionated girlfriends share their thoughts on fashion here, and I personally could listen to Lauren Mitchell riff on rap all day. This is her second post on hip hop fashion . You can find her first one here.

Moschino is one of those labels that gets shit on by plenty of fashion reviewers/critics, and you know, part of me gets that. They mad corny, at times tacky, at times so tacky it’s almost gauche. But for me, when they hit it, they hit it hard. And I think a lot of that has to do with who is wearing their stuff. The person, in my mind, that looks best in Moschino is Nicki Minaj. She looks like she was meant to be covered in the gold iteration of the logo, holding a purse that looks like an order of McDonald’s fries.Moschino has such a hip hop aesthetic, I watch their runway shows and spend the whole time wishing it was just like, Nicki, Iggy Azalea, Rihanna, and Kelis stomping down the runway, serving hip hop like no model ever has/could/will. Maybe Jeremy Scott will figure that shit out. Maybe in order to do so he should definitely watch the video for “Senile”, a track featuring Nicki, Tyga, and Lil Wayne, all going hard (though none of them harder than our girl Nicki) over a pretty sparse, outer space type beat. 

On top of the fact that Nick drops the hottest verse on this track, she is also the most interesting/mesmerizing part of the video, and is dressed in two looks from the most recent Moschino collection. Now, I am not here to get into any sort of fucked up body shaming type garbage, but people, level with me, I pretty much only wanna see Nicki’s sweet, sweet booty filling out all Moschino forever, end of story. That black, leather two piece outfit looks like it was custom made for her, and probably no one else should try and touch the mens-underwear inspired bra and panties set, cause blinged out with a bandana was exactly what it needed and y’all should step off.In an ideal world, I would get to style Nicki for every video she ever made, but instead, I’m just gonna play pretend stylist here with you instead.

New York and London Fashion Weeks have come and gone and Milan Fashion Week ends today. I’ve had the opportunity to view and obsess over a ton of exciting and truly beautiful collections, as well as some uninspired and poorly-executed ones. An attempt was made to cull the most fashion forward and personally appealing looks from the shows so far and present them to you here.

The looks seen above were chosen from one of my favourite collections from NYFW, by American designer Jeremy Scott. Tapping into the as-popular-as-ever sportswear trend and infusing it with his trademark  tongue-in-cheek style, the collection is varied texturally and looks super fun to wear, even for the non-Kpop star crowd. Cozy is the name of the game this season and I’ve yet to see anything I’d rather drape myself with than those bomb-ass fuzzy sports jersey knits.
